Designing a Research Process That Works in Real Life
A healthcare nonprofit was trying to expand a research process across hospitals and clinics. Its success depended on many people playing different roles, including foundation staff, physicians, clinic teams, and patients. The process needed to be easy to understand, realistic within busy care environments, and supported by strong communication.
What We Did
- Interviewed staff who walked us through how the process worked within hospital and clinic settings
- Interviewed patients about why they participate and the challenges they face
- Identified communication gaps and points where the experience could break down
- Redesigned key workflows to make participation easier for each group involved
- Recommended and ultimately helped to create updates to the supporting software and training materials
The Result: The updated process and training took a huge load off nonprofit staff, gave clinic teams a clearer and more coordinated way to complete the research while improving the experience for patients.
